When it’s time to stop the war and learn to simply love your body and your life, no matter what it looks or feels like…I can help you find solutions for the endless cycle of self-defeat and procrastination that keeps you from feeling your best.
Hi, my name is Sharon Rosen, and I’ve been helping people feel better in their bodies since 1986. (Longer if you count the shoulder rubs I used to give my dad as a young girl who could barely reach them!) In 23 years of massage practice I have heard many people respond to my query “Is there anything I should know about you physically before we begin?” with “Well, I’m about 20 (or 30 or 40) pounds overweight and I’m really out of shape!” Hmmm — I meant back or neck pain or recent surgeries, but 9 out of 10 responses, usually from women, contain some level of shame or regret.
I haven’t always been so happy in my body either, even though for most of my adult years I’ve been trim and quite fit. But I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome (hence my trim form, since I’d feel really sick before I could eat enough foods to make me put on weight) and recurring sinus infections, sometimes as many as 4 or 5 times a year. In typical fashion, the doctors had little of real value to offer for these chronic ailments — one ear, nose and throat guy even told me I had breathing problems because of a bi-cuspid uvula, meaning it is shaped more like a W than a U. Now what could I do with that information?
I’ve also experienced many rounds of repetitive motion injury in my wrists and forearms from years of deep massage work, and ongoing neck/shoulder issues from a long-ago car accident. So part of my inquiry around body love became “how do I feel good in my body when my body doesn’t feel so good?”
And so began a search for what truly worked best for me, which has taken me to many healers, filled my shelves with many books and been a great lesson in listening very closely to what my body really wants and needs. That process also led to becoming a massage therapist; studying and using herbs and whole foods; exploring meditation and energy healing; studying yoga and finding useful self-care tools; and actively engaging in developing my relationship with God (still my most succinct way of talking about the Infinite-Source-Energy-Of-All-That-Is).
In my work with clients, I offer energy healing and bodywork sessions; one-on-one coaching and group coaching for self-care, stress relief, weight loss and 21st century overwhelm; and programs that are custom designed to meet the needs of your group — all delivered with compassion, humor and cutting edge research, plus the wisdom of 23 years of experience in holistic health and wellness. I’d love to help you live the mystery of life in a body with as much joy, ease and acceptance as possible. Find out more about that at www.heartofselfcare.com.
